Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-11-01
This Privacy Policy explains how Chipmunks Dance AI ("we", "us") at chipmunksdanceai.com collects, uses and protects information when you use the site.
Who we are
Chipmunks Dance AI is run by the Chipmunks Dance AI team, which is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us about privacy at hello@chipmunksdanceai.com.
Information we collect
- Photos you upload. Each photo you add (the middle dancer, and the right and left dancers if you add them) is resized in your browser and uploaded to our private storage, then passed to our video provider to render the clip. Finished videos are stored privately for 7 days so you can watch and download them under My videos, then deleted; only the account that made a video can open it, plus our own staff when you write to us about a video or we need to check a report. Email us to delete a video sooner. We delete your photos as soon as the video is finished or fails (and in any case within 1 day), and we do not use them for anything else. To produce AI results, it is sent to Viggle (models: Viggle character replacement), which process it on our behalf.
- Email address (waitlist). If you ask to be notified about an upcoming feature, we store your email address only to send you that notice. We do not share it, and we delete it on request.
- Usage counts. To enforce daily usage limits and prevent abuse, we count uses per day against a one-way hash of your IP address and a random identifier stored in a cookie. We do not store your IP address itself in these counts, and the key used to create the hash is deleted after 2 days.
- Usage data. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, Google Analytics loads only after you click "Accept", to understand how the site is used (pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type). Google Analytics uses a pseudonymous identifier stored in the _ga cookies for traffic reports. You can withdraw your consent at any time from "Cookie preferences" in the footer; we then delete the _ga cookies. Outside these regions, statistics are enabled by default and can be disabled in Cookie preferences. If we cannot determine your country, statistics stay off until you accept. An existing rejection remains valid when you change region.
- Visit sources. We store the referring domain, campaign tags and landing page path in this browser and a first-party cookie for up to 90 days to understand how visitors find us. We do not store full referring URLs, search terms or file contents in this record. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, and when your country is unknown, this starts only after you accept statistics; withdrawing consent clears these browser records.
Sign-in and payments
You sign in with a link sent to your email address or with Google. We keep your email address, your credit balance, your orders and a list of your videos, so that you can use the credits you bought. Signing in sets one essential session cookie. We use Cloudflare Turnstile to block automated sign-up requests, and Cloudflare to send our emails (sign-in links and "your video is ready").
If you continue with Google, Google tells us your email address, your name and your profile picture, and we save them on your account. We do not keep Google access tokens and cannot read anything else in your Google account. Outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland, if you are not signed in, our pages load Google's sign-in script after the page has finished loading, so Google can offer a "Continue as" prompt. Google may see your IP address and its own cookies when that script loads. If you close the prompt we do not show it again on this device for a day.
Our Google Analytics events record which steps of making a video people reach (for example uploading a photo, a video finishing, a download or a purchase). We do not send Google your email address, your photos or your videos.
Security diagnostics
Your browser may send security-policy violation reports to this site. Before logging, we discard full web addresses, script samples, IP addresses, browser User-Agent, cookies and submitted content. We retain only technical categories and counts in Cloudflare hosting logs for up to seven days. These reports are sampled, may be incomplete and are not used to identify visitors or create advertising profiles.
Cookies
Essential cookies (sign-in session, and cc_cookie that stores your cookie choice for 6 months) don't need consent; in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, statistics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) are set only after you click "Accept".
We use cookies to run the site and measure traffic. We do not show ads, and no advertising cookies are set. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
How we use information and our legal bases
We use information to provide and improve the tool, keep the site secure, and respond to your requests. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on these legal bases:
- Providing the tool you ask for: performance of a contract with you.
- Analytics cookies: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Security, abuse prevention, usage limits and answering your emails: our legitimate interests in running a safe and reliable service.
Service providers
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers below, who process it on our behalf to run the site, or when required by law:
- Cloudflare — website hosting, content delivery and security
- Google Analytics — traffic statistics
- Viggle — processes the content you submit to produce your result
- Cloudflare Turnstile — bot checks that protect sign-in
- Cloudflare Email Service — sign-in links and "your video is ready" emails
- Google Sign-In — optional sign-in, including the One Tap prompt, with your Google account
International transfers
Our service providers process data in the United States and other countries. When personal data from the EEA, the UK or Switzerland is transferred to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on the provider's certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep data
- Uploaded photos: deleted once the video is done or has failed, and never kept longer than 1 day.
- Finished videos: 7 days, then deleted.
- Usage counts: the key that links counts to your IP hash is deleted after 2 days.
- Google Analytics data: at most 14 months.
- Visit sources: up to 90 days in your browser.
- Emails you send us: as long as needed to handle your request and keep a record of it.
Deletion typically completes within 24 hours after these periods end.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and you can withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. Email hello@chipmunksdanceai.com to make a request; we reply within one month. If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
California residents
In the last 12 months we collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (such as cookie identifiers and a one-way hash of your IP address), internet activity (pages visited and how the tool is used), approximate location, and the content you choose to process. We collect it from you, your browser and our service providers, and use it for the purposes described above.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents can ask to know, delete or correct their personal information by emailing hello@chipmunksdanceai.com. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
Other regions
If you are in India, you can raise a grievance about how we handle your data by emailing hello@chipmunksdanceai.com. If you are in Japan, note that the purposes above are the purposes of use of your personal information, and that our service providers are mainly located in the United States.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
